What the hell is anime? Well for those who dont know what it is, you probaly just havent heard the name but have seen it many times. I sure havent been able to avoid the old Pokemon adverts on the TV screen some time ago, and that is a typical example of an Anime.
Anime comes in form of series, or in movies. Anime is cartoon looking with a special style, so special it has its own category. And what also makes it into its own category is that it is from Japan, and most animes are made in Japan.
Why does Anime interest me? At first it did not, in fact i kind of just pushed it away. I could not find myself to like cartoon based series and movies(hell there are loads of good "REAL" movies and "REAL" TV series) after my time with Disney when i was a small kid. But after taking a look at my first Anime Haruhi (which i forced myself into doing) i immediatly found interest. Anime is special, it usually has a very good story if you take time to follow it, and what makes me like it even more is the fact that Animes are long. We are usually talking Series here, some up to 50 episodes a season. Some animes are running at their 500th episode and still counting. The movies are also amazing, they are basicly like a real motion picture movie in cartoon style.
Now to the topic, whats your favourite? I'll tell you mine
I first watched The Melachony (spelling?) of Haruhi Suzumiya when i decided to watch animes. And of course it was my first favourite, and it has always been one i liked. It has a special charm out of the ordinary "School Based Anime", and is also very well done.
Then i have Neon Genesis Evangelion on my top list. An old science fiction anime and is one of the top animes of all times, the ending will fuck up your brain, don't forget your tinfoil hat.

Tengen Toppen Gurrenn Lagann, yes thats the whole name. Aside from the weird name it is an awesome anime, action filled science fiction with an amazing plot and an amazing ending. It is to be expected from the creators of Neon Genesis, although this time they made an ending easy to understand.
Lucky Star. I cant say i really liked this one, but it was fun most of the time. It basicly is another school based anime with no plot whatsoever, thats right no plot. It follow some young girls in school and their everyday life problems. The show often refers to other animes(especiall Haruhi) and games via jokes and other things. The anime is generally really boring if you dotn get into it, the first like 10 minutes of the show you get to listen to the girls as they discuss on how to eat properly. It gets really weird and lame but i found that kinda amusing.
So, my top list would be:
1. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Action, Plot, Mindtwisting
2. Tengen Toppen Gurren Lagann - Action, Plot, Understandable
3. Haruhi Suzumiya - School Anime at its best, good plot, good designed characters
4. Gundam Seed Destiny: Didnt mention above but i liked this one. Its another science fiction anime with space battles, it has good designed characters and a pretty interesting plot. But sometimes gets repetitive, the action scenes that is.
5. Lucky Star - Charming, table manners
